We brought a unique, creative spark to the launch of the brand, working directly with the owners to ignite our community and represent the burning passion for volleyball in our city.

Indy Ignite is bringing the heat of professional women’s volleyball to Indiana.

Indiana has a national reputation as one of the Top 5 States for volleyball. But for all our athletes and accolades, there’s never been a successful pro volleyball league in the United States—until now. In 2024, the Pro Volleyball Federation debuted their inaugural season and announced that Indianapolis would be the 10th city to join their nationwide league.

With the franchise secured, the owners of Indy Pro Volleyball came to INNOVATIVE for help naming the team and developing a brand that could capture the heart of our city.

We began with a collaborative brainstorm session, where we identified key audiences, core values, and potential names for the team. After weeks of discussion, we landed on Indy Ignite—a name that pays tribute to the passion of their players and the nature of their mission, as they spark a new era of women’s sports.

We designed a brand that balances bold iconography with meaningful messaging.

Once the name was approved, our team began building the brand from the ground up. We crafted a striking brand story around the name, strategically incorporating fire-related phrases to improve brand cohesion while energizing our audience. Then, we expanded that story into a full messaging hierarchy that would become the guideline for all future brand communications.

From there, Indy Ignite needed a logo that could speak to their bold mission, while still providing a timeless look that easily translates to jerseys and merchandise. Our final logo design combined the torch from Indy’s iconic statue of Victory with a blazing volleyball that simultaneously represents both freedom and ambition.

These brand guidelines became the foundation of our marketing toolbox, as we designed the first round of merchandise and marketing assets for the upcoming launch.

We developed a comprehensive launch strategy for Indy Ignite’s big debut.

When the team first started, Indy Ignite had yet to hire any players, coaches, or even marketing staff to build anticipation for their inaugural season. We needed their brand reveal to make a lasting impact and keep the momentum going until they hit the court in 2025.

So, we worked alongside Indy Ignite to develop a multi-channel launch strategy—with everything from event tabling and giveaways to social media and community outreach.

One of the most important elements of this strategy was a streamlined WordPress website built to convert visitors into leads and eventually ticket deposits. This included a dedicated News page, where we wrote press releases designed to organically educate our audience and attract earned media.

Building a brand requires consistent, creative content to keep your audience’s attention.

After successfully revealing Indy Ignite to the world, we went to work creating essential brand assets and collateral items to support their ongoing marketing.

We revamped their sponsor presentation, designed social media templates, and brainstormed ways to drive ticket deposits throughout the year. We even hosted a press conference announcing that the Fishers Event Center will be Indy Ignite’s home court, inviting local media to meet the team for the first time.

As Indy Ignite continues to grow, their team will start taking on more and more of their daily marketing tasks. But we look forward to supporting their growth with innovative ideas and creative content that ignites the fire within!
