Inviting New Dancers to Discover Their Potential at the Indianapolis School of Ballet.
We created a welcoming campaign that celebrates both the joy of discovery and the rigor of professional ballet training.
The Indianapolis School of Ballet holds a unique position in Indiana, as the only ballet school directly connected to a professional ballet company. That distinction offers incredible opportunity, but it also presents a challenge: How do you attract new students across all age groups and skill levels, making it clear that everyone is welcome—from aspiring professionals preparing for company auditions to little toddlers taking their first steps?
That’s the challenge INNOVATIVE set out to solve. The school needed a campaign that could expand enrollment by reaching families who’d never considered ballet, while still honoring the rigorous, world-class training that sets the Indianapolis School of Ballet apart.
We workshopped three campaign concepts before landing on the perfect fit.
Our creative process began by developing three distinct campaign directions, each with its own strategic advantage:
Education En Pointe used clever wordplay to spotlight the school’s premier instruction and help reduce confusion between the school and the professional company. This concept balanced playfulness with sophistication, emphasizing educational excellence through phrases like “Raising the Barre in Ballet Instruction.”
Join the Movement took a bold, action-oriented approach, directly calling audiences to participate and showcasing striking imagery of dancers in motion. This concept celebrated both the athleticism of dance and the momentum of personal progress.
Discover the Dancer in You offered an inviting, accessible message designed to help people imagine themselves (or their children) at Indianapolis School of Ballet. This concept opened the door to audiences without prior ballet experience, while still resonating with serious students dreaming of professional careers.
After evaluating all three directions, we selected Discover the Dancer in You as the campaign theme. This tagline struck the perfect balance of welcoming newcomers while honoring the transformative journey that ballet offers at every level. We paired it with a value proposition that captured the heart of the experience: Find Joy in Every Step at the Indianapolis School of Ballet.
We developed targeted messaging for five distinct audiences—from new parents to professional trainees.
With the campaign theme established, we built out a comprehensive messaging hierarchy that spoke directly to each of the school’s key audiences. This wasn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. Each audience needed messaging that addressed their unique motivations, concerns, and aspirations.
We built a complete graphics toolkit to ensure campaign consistency across all touchpoints.
With the campaign theme and messaging locked in, we moved into visual development. Our design team created a custom logo lockup and a comprehensive graphics toolbox that the Indianapolis School of Ballet could use far beyond our campaign videos, ensuring quality and consistency across all their marketing materials during the campaign launch and beyond.
This toolkit included typography standards, color palettes, graphic elements, and layout templates that captured the elegance of ballet while maintaining an approachable, inviting feel. Every visual component was designed to reinforce the central message: ballet is for anyone who wants to dance.
Our video strategy brought the campaign to life with authentic storytelling across the school’s program.
Videos are the heart and soul of the Discover the Dancer in You campaign. We developed a strategic video suite designed to create an emotional connection with prospective students and their families, showcasing both the joy of dance and the exceptional training environment at Indianapolis School of Ballet.
These videos ranged from more comprehensive topics around curriculum and technique to individual spotlight videos highlighting specific programs and age groups throughout the school.
This campaign positions the Indianapolis School of Ballet as both accessible and aspirational.
The beauty of Discover the Dancer in You is that it speaks to multiple audiences at once. For families new to ballet, it’s an invitation to try something new without intimidation. For serious students, it’s a promise that they’ll receive the kind of training that can unlock their full potential. For adults, it’s permission to reconnect with a passion or try something they’ve always dreamed of doing.
By pairing this inclusive message with stunning visuals of dancers in motion and authentic storytelling across every age group, we created a campaign that doesn’t compromise. It celebrates both the three-year-old doing their first plié and the trainee preparing to join a professional company.
