We produced a video showcasing how sports teach girls to become leaders.
Sports empower young girls to unlock their ambition, to discover their passion, and achieve without limits. That’s why the WNBA All-Star Host Committee wanted our help creating a video that would encourage more middle school girls to pick up athletics.
With only a month to execute, our team quickly produced an inspiring, interview-driven video uniquely designed to support teachers in the classroom. From Tamika Catchings to Caitlin Clark, we interviewed WNBA superstars from past and present, as well as other female athletes who went on to become leaders in their career.
Our process began by scripting the introduction and outlining key messages around the benefits of sports. This gave us a solid foundation going into each interview, so we could efficiently weave their stories together into one clear and compelling narrative.
Coordinating 20+ interviews in 3 weeks takes an all-star marketing team.
With our messaging outlined, we buckled down and began scheduling interviews with incredible women who started their journey in youth sports. This community engagement video is all about how sports build lifelong skills—for athletes and non-athletes alike. So, we knew we needed to talk to a variety of leaders from all careers and corners of our community.
Despite busy schedules and a tight deadline, our team conducted nearly 25 interviews for the video, capturing diverse stories and perspectives on the benefits of sports. We then filtered through the footage, homing in on the strongest soundbites to support our story.
We paired these inspiring interviews with imagery of women and girls dominating the league, excelling in the workplace, and shattering glass ceilings wherever they go. Our interviewees even provided photos and footage from their childhood, capturing their fond memories of playing sports.
SOCIAL CUTDOWNS
This community engagement video was intentionally crafted for classroom use.
From the beginning, we knew this video would be distributed to middle school classrooms. So, we designed the piece to work within a class curriculum—with the option to view the video in two parts. This intentional design was done with our young audience in mind, so teachers could pause between sections and engage their students in thoughtful discussion.
Our team also collaborated with the Host Committee to produce a few shorter pieces to post on social media leading up to the All-Star Weekend. We reviewed the interviews and edited together a promotional teaser and six unique cutdowns, themed around the various life lessons learned in sports.
In the end, our team was exceptionally proud to capture these stories and create a video that shows exactly why playing sports is a lifelong win for young girls. We’re so grateful for the many female trailblazers who were willing to lend their time and talents to inspire future generations to be the best they can be.
